Leaving a gift in your Will
Legacy gifts
It’s not Switch Up who can explain the impact of a gift in your Will. It’s those who’ve transformed their lives by working with us.
Young people like Keira who was referred to Switch Up at a young age after facing bullying and ongoing mental health difficulties. Keira’s struggles had ultimately led to her exclusion from mainstream school, where she had become involved in substance abuse and self-harming behaviour.
Through the Switch Up programme, Keira engaged in 1-2-1 boxing sessions and mentoring support, which helped her develop discipline, confidence, and emotional regulation. She has also received counselling and professional support for her mental health from our trained staff.
Working with her Switch Up mentor, Keira made significant progress in both her physical and emotional wellbeing. Her mental health has shown real improvement, and she reports experiencing little to no urges to self-harm, a development she is rightly proud of.
Having recently sat her GCSE’s, Keira now plans on attending Sixth Form to study for her A levels and aspires to be either a nurse or a therapist.
Each legacy gift can fund future generations to receive our life-changing intervention and support, just like Keira.
Your legacy gift
Your Will is a legal letter of love to those following in your footsteps: family, friends and charities
But your legacy gift doesn’t just sit idly by. It ends up in the hands of future generations of young people like Keira.
You can leave Switch Up any % of what you are worth, from 1% to 100% – whatever suits you.
You can leave us any affordable sum of money – but this does not keep up with inflation.
Or
You can leave us an item. Some people might leave their home if they have nobody following in their footsteps. Others leave us pieces of jewellery and other items. The choice is always yours.
A legacy of lasting impact
What information does your Will writer need to make your gift happen?
The name of our registered charity: The Marcellus Baz Foundation
Our registered charity number: 1158631
And the details of your future gift.
If you already have a Will in place:
A Will is easy to change either through a codicil, but now, more commonly, through a letter of wishes which can include other choices such as the type of funeral you’d prefer, gifts to a charity instead of flowers at your funeral, and guardians for your children.
If you don’t yet have a Will:
We can supply a list of solicitors, local to you, who regularly draft Wills.
There are some online Will writers, and we can send you a link to those which offer a service which includes solicitor approved Wills.
You could also find out if one of your friends knows of a reliable solicitor local to you.
If you have any questions:
We understand that your Will is a private document, and you need never tell us your intentions. But if you do then we can say thank you!
We can’t give legal advice but are very happy to answer any other questions you might have.
Finally, if you have remembered Switch Up in your Will, a huge thank you from us and the future generations of young people who’ll witness, and benefit from, your gift.
A gift of hope for the future
