Physical health and wellbeing
We believe in the transformative power of movement and the profound connection between a healthy body and a resilient mind
At Switch Up, while the aim is to improve physical fitness, the result often ignites an inner strength.
We offer young people one-to-one and group sessions across various sports and activities, including our renowned Nottingham School of Boxing and Mansfield School of Boxing – and we see incredible results.
Building strength from within
At Switch Up, physical wellness begins in the gym, on the field, or in the ring, but our approach is about far more than just fitness; it’s about building character, fostering resilience, and unlocking potential.
This is powerfully embodied in our physical activity pillar, a core component of our holistic Five Pillar approach.
When a young person is referred to us, we conduct an in-depth appraisal of their personal circumstances, challenges, and needs to design an intervention that is precisely matched to the individual; we never offer a “one size fits all” solution.
If boxing coaching isn’t the right fit, we thoughtfully offer alternative physical or cultural activities, such as music or art, ensuring every young person finds their pathway to engagement.
We focus on physical training to not only boost their health but also their mental fortitude. We help them develop vital self-discipline and unwavering focus.
Always in your corner
Our boxing coaches and mentors are experts at pushing boundaries safely. They’re skilled at inspiring young people to find their inner strength.
We’re supported by a passionate community; all committed to seeing young people succeed. This collective strength ensures our physical health and wellbeing programmes are impactful. They provide the practical skills, the discipline, and the confidence needed for lasting change.
Coming back stronger
Founder and chief executive of Switch Up, Baz, grew up in a deprived and violent neighbourhood, where he was groomed into criminality and gangs. He discovered boxing as a way to escape, and also to help others facing similar challenges.
Boxing and other physical sports now make up one of the ‘five pillars’ – an initiative at the heart of Switch Up, allowing for meaningful engagement, and a way to build resilience.
